I have spent my career on the same question: how does a person or a company make a good decision about Panama? I was Panama's National Director of Investment Promotion at the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, where my team licensed companies under the SEM regime and in private free zones, and I took part in building programs meant to attract investment, including the residency program for qualified investors and the EMMA regime for multinational manufacturing-services companies.
Before that, I advised high-net-worth individuals and companies on tax and investment planning, and I ran a financial company in Panama for more than 20 years. Today I am a licensed real estate professional and I work directly with people moving here or putting capital to work.
I am a dual citizen of the United States and Panama, I live in Panama City, and I understand both sides of the conversation: what a foreign buyer expects and how things actually work here.
